Book Week – Our Top Reads!

Book Week is celebrated in schools & libraries around the country each year, to highlight the importance of reading. This year, we will be joining in the fun at Reading Bees!

From Monday 21st August through to Saturday 26th August, we will celebrate Book Week at Reading Bees. During this week, our Kinder program classes (Prekinder, Kinder & Kinder Plus) will enjoy a special ‘Book Week themed’ lesson.

ALL children, both kinder & primary, are invited to bring one of their treasured books from home to share with their friends and come dressed up as one of their favourite book characters when they attend their Reading Bees class that week.

Any questions, please ask your child’s teachers, or email us at hello@readingbees.com.au

Why Book Week matters for young readers

Book Week is a great excuse to talk about stories at home. When children choose a favourite book, retell it or dress up as a character, they are practising the language and listening skills that sit underneath learning to read: new vocabulary, rhyme, sequencing a story and talking about what happened and why. You don’t need an elaborate costume to get the benefit — reading the book together and chatting about it is what counts.
