If your child is struggling with reading, avoiding homework, or has lost confidence in their ability to learn, please know that you’re not alone—and more importantly, there is hope!
Every week, parents come to Reading Bees feeling frustrated and worried. They’ve watched their bright, creative child struggle with reading and spelling at school, and they’re searching for answers. Some have tried tutoring that felt like more of the same schoolwork. Others have been told their child just needs more time. Many feel like they’re failing their child.
We want you to know that your child is not broken, and you are not failing them.
The Reading Bees literacy program for primary school children specialises in helping children who haven’t had immediate success at school. We launched the Reading Bees primary program in 2021. Since then, we’ve worked with hundreds of students labelled as “struggling readers” and watched them transform into confident, capable learners who now enjoy reading and spelling.
Our approach is different because we understand that children who struggle often need a completely different teaching method, not just more of the same. Our qualified educators use explicit, science-backed phonics instruction delivered in small, supportive classes where children feel safe taking risks and making mistakes.
For our Primary students (Prep-Year 3), we begin with a comprehensive screening to understand precisely where they are in their literacy journey. This allows us to place them with peers at a similar level, which research shows leads to faster progress and restored confidence.
We’ve seen it countless times: children who dreaded reading begin to volunteer to read aloud, kids who avoided writing start creating stories, and students who felt “stupid” discover they’re actually quite clever—they just needed the right approach.
“For many families, the most meaningful change is not just academic progress. It is the boost in confidence. As children experience success and develop mastery, reading feels less like a struggle and more like something they can enjoy,” – Mel
Don’t let another term pass by watching your child struggle.
