What to expect at a primary student screening appointment (and, no it’s not a test!)

We help primary students rebuild their confidence, fill knowledge gaps, and become confident learners—especially those who haven’t had success with reading and spelling at school.

Primary Student

Can you help me book a primary screening appointment?

    1. Follow these written instructions.
    2. Watch this step-by-step YouTube video.
  1. Call the Reading Bees Head Office team for support.

How long is a primary screening?
Each primary student screening is 20 minutes.

Is the primary screening a reading assessment?
No, it’s more of an analysis made by our qualified teachers to understand the skills of each primary student.

Will I get a report based on the results of my child’s screening?

No, you don’t get a report. The screening outcome allows our educators to recommend the primary group level for each child. It’s not about results.

When will I know which primary class my child will be assigned to?
After your child’s screening, we will email you with the recommended primary class level based on the assessment made by our qualified educators. This process takes up to 48 hours.

What do I need to bring?

Nothing. ☺️ Everything you need is provided. IMPORTANT—Please DO NOT bring food to Reading Bees. Due to allergies, we do not allow food in our learning studios.

What if I can’t make it to the screening?
Please let us know if you need to cancel your primary student screening using the Reading Bees app. Please provide at least 2 hours’ notice and follow these simple instructions. This process helps us manage all student absences, including those for primary student screening appointments. For more information, please refer to our Student Absence & Makeup Policy (on your Reading Bees app).
