School Holiday
Looking for some ways to keep kids off their screens these holidays?!
Here are three easy activities at home that don’t require too much preparation!
Fun holiday learning activities to try at home.
1. Thumbs up or thumbs down?
Write a CVC word on paper and read it out loud. Ask your little one to give a thumbs up if the word is correct or thumbs down for the incorrect way. Psst - CVC words are consonant-vowel-consonant, like cat, dog, sun, pot, sip, etc.
2. Cuddle up somewhere cosy and warm and read rhyming books together.
Some of our favourites are Dr Seuss and Hairy Maclary and Where is the Green Sheep? We like to choose books that make us smile so parents or grandparents enjoy the books too!
3. Try making a word chain
by only changing one sound in each word to make the next new word. Depending on your child's age, you can say it out loud or write the words down. Here’s an example word chain to try -> 'cot -> hot -> hat -> ham -> pam -> pat -> pot -> pit -> pin -> pit -> pot -> cot'
