Primary Program
For primary students: Preps to Year 3.
- The only phonics program in Melbourne that's skills-based, not age-based, complements your child's schoolwork.
- A systematic learning approach to permanently overcome reading, writing and spelling issues
- Reflects the progression of the Little Learners Love Literacy stages—students start and progress at their own pace through nine possible Reading Bees levels.
- Available after school on weekdays and Saturdays at 7 Reading Bees locations. Class schedules vary per location.
What to expect from our primary program?
We help primary students rebuild their confidence, fill knowledge gaps, and become confident learners—especially those who haven’t had success with reading and spelling at school.
Why is our Primary Program the most effective in Melbourne?
Our approach is different and the most effective because we understand that children who struggle often need a completely different teaching method, not just more of the same.
Our qualified educators deliver explicit, science-backed phonics instruction in small, supportive classes (with a maximum of 5 students), where children feel safe taking risks and making mistakes as they learn and grow.

Our Primary Program Always Starts With A Screening Appointment.
Every primary student’s enrolment begins with a short screening appointment to understand where each student is in their literacy journey. Rather than placing primary students in a “one-size-fits-all” group, the screening process allows us to place students in a class with peers at a similar learning level, which research shows leads to faster progress and restored confidence.
This “intervention-style” learning experience explicitly addresses each primary student’s learning needs, ensuring they progress confidently and effectively.

The Reading Bees Primary Program
Children don’t just overcome reading issues—they become confident learners who feel the magic of language. Through science-backed phonics instruction, we explicitly address each primary student’s learning needs, ensuring they progress confidently and effectively.
