Designed to better prepare children starting prep in 2026, the Reading Bees 5-day holiday program builds the confidence, literacy, and social skills your child needs to thrive at school from day one—whether they’re new to learning or ready for extension.
We’re offering two learning levels:
HOLIDAY GROUP A: Designed for children at the start of their reading journey.
HOLIDAY GROUP B: Is specifically for children who have already developed some early skills and have made a start on their reading journey.
Both holiday groups will be available at the following Reading Bees locations.

The Reading Bees Get School Ready Holiday Program
Date: Monday 19th January – Friday 23rd January 2026 (1-week only!)
Locations: Caroline Springs, Wantirna, South Kingsville & Templestowe (Students must start and complete the program at one location only)
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
Class size: 8 students or less
Class duration: 1 hour & 15 minutes, daily classes for 5 consecutive days
Cost: $295 all-inclusive for the 5-day program (a 50% non-refundable deposit is available now to secure your place).
What will my child learn in the GROUP A holiday program?
GROUP A is suited for children at the beginning of their reading journey.
This includes children who:
- have limited or no phonics knowledge
- may know their alphabet (letter names) but not the sounds of each of the letters
- may know some sounds but are not yet able to hear how they go together to make a word
- are not yet able to recognise simple words in text
The GROUP A program will introduce children to a select set of letters and sounds to begin creating, recognising, and writing a range of simple words.
Activities will also focus on developing their phonological awareness—an essential skill for learning to read—by focusing on syllables, rhyming, and hearing sounds in words.

Class duration: 75 minutes, daily classes
Cost: $295 all-inclusive for the 5-day program
What will my child learn in the GROUP B holiday program?
This GROUP B class is for children who have already developed some early skills and have begun their reading journey.
This includes children who:
- have some early phonics knowledge (i.e. know many of the sounds that the 26 letters of the alphabet make)
- can hear how sounds go together to make a word (i.e. if you say “b-u-g”, they can tell you the word)
- can attempt to sound out and read simple ‘consonant-vowel-consonant’ words
- can recognise simple words in text
The GROUP B program will focus on consolidating the children’s prior phonics knowledge and on extending their ability to read and write simple words and sentences with a broader range of sounds.
Activities will also focus on strengthening their sound awareness and improving their fluency when reading.
